Calling all Parish Musicians, School Music Leaders, Organists, Choirs, Cantors and Clergy!

The Diocese of Leeds Music Day - Leeds Cathedral

Leaders

John Duggan – Internationally-renowned composer
Thomas Leech – Director, Diocese of Leeds Schools Singing Programme
David Pipe – Director, Diocese of Leeds Organists’ Training Programme

Programme

10.00am Registration and Coffee in Wheeler Hall
10.15am Singing workshops: Mass

Working on a new piece by John Duggan written for the Music Day, and a Gregorian Chant Mass and introits for Sundays in Ordinary Time. 

Participants are invited to form the choir to sing Mass in the Cathedral at 12 noon (optional).

12.45–1.30pm Lunch (not provided)
1.30–3.00pm Organ accompaniment 

David Pipe, Director of the Organists’ Training Programme, will lead a session on liturgical accompaniment playing the Cathedral’s magnificent Klais organ. Organists are invited to bring accompaniments to work on, and the session will include special focus on accompanying responsorial psalms and hymns.

Booking

Admission is free to all, but places are limited and need to be booked in advance.
