Competition success for Bishop Konstant choirs
In January Choral Director Charlotte Kitson started work with the primary schools in the Bishop Konstant Catholic Academy Trust - in less than three months she has swept the board with choirs from these schools at the Rothwell Festival. The Diocese was represented by nearly 300 children in twelve choirs, with groups from Holy Family and St Michael's (Pontefract), Immaculate Heart of Mary (Leeds), Sacred Heart (Hemsworth), St. Benedict's (Garforth), St. John the Baptist (Normanton), St. Joseph's (Castleford) and St. Joseph's (Moorthorpe). All of the Singing Programme choirs were placed in the top three in each class, with 1st places for Immaculate Heart, St. Benedict's Class 4 and St. Benedict's Key Stage 2 Choir. The adjudicator was Marilynne Davies. Charlotte was delighted with the progress the young singers have made saying 'It's wonderful to see their enthusiasm and confidence in performing, and to hear how much their singing has developed in the last couple of months; this is just the start of the journey for these singers and we look forward to many more opportunities for them to develop in the coming years.'
